What Is Tivo?
To put it simply TiVo is one enormous hard-drive, or digital video recorder (DVR), that sits on your television and records your favorite TV shows. In a sense it is more or less the next generation of VCR. For those of you that can remember VCR’s. However unlike VCR’s, your TiVo allows you to record in a variety of different ways that can be viewed at any time in the future.
You should also know that there are other vendors out there, such as the Dish Network.
Your TiVo or DVR can be used to select preferred programs that you choose based on what you tell it record or based on your general interests.
Let’s say for example you’re interested in any movie staring Al Pacino. What your DVR will end up doing is to search from then on for any movies is which Mr. Pacino is credited. So by the next day or in a few days, you might end up with “Heat” “Scarface”; and the like.
And that’s not the only way to record. You can record by a number of genres like actors and directors. And best of all they will stay on your DVRuntil you manually delete them. The source of all these programs will come from your local cable company or satellite provider. The way this works is that data, usually from a phone line, updates this on a daily basis from the TiVo control center.
There might even be ways for you to upgrade your DVR.What is even more impressive is the fact that the DVR can even start recording shows based on what you watch without you even asking about it!!Actually there is one more thing that is more impressive. TiVo recently came out with HDTV TiVo.
Finally there is a rating system that most DVR’s employ. This is where you the viewer can tell TiVo what you like and what you don’t like. 일산호빠일산선수 It is a very easy system to learn as it employs a “thumbs-up; or “thumbs down” approach. This actually goes on to determine what programs your DVR will record for you should you allow it to. This is very similar to what a companies like Netflix and Amazon.com do for their customers.
